'!'he City Manager preaented a verbal report on the atatua of the utility
pol•• erected on the private property of Mr. G. R. Glaaacock, 3855 South Blati
Str .. t, for ~unication purpoaea. Dr. L. O. •earhart, 3852 South Blati Street,
and other reaidenta of th• area were preaent to hear the report. 'fh• City Manager
reviMMd hi• recent effort• to determine the atatua of the pol•• erected on the
private property. Be indicated that they had been determined not to be a atruc-
ture, that they were erected entirely upon th• property of Mr. Glaaacock who had
indicated they were a peraonal convenience of hi• which he would make available
for civil defenae effort• when required. Be co F*nted that Mr. Glaaacock planned
on erection of auch pole• for antenna purpo••• which pol•• would have had a
hei9ht fourteen f .. t greater than the on•• actually erected. Be r-rked that
9enerally he had .. t with atubborn oppoaition to hi• effort• to convince Mr.
Glaaacock to remove the pol••·
'file City Attorney reported that erection of the pol•• waa a 199al inatallation
and that there were no ordinance• on the book• to force their removal. He com-
.. nted that they were not atructur•• and no building permit or direct City control
exiated ewer their erection or continued exiatence. Dr~ Gearhart inquired if an
appeal could be made to the Board of Adjuatm.nt and Appeala. Diacuaaion enaued.

Dr. Gearhart aaked that the operation of the atation in th• area be declared a
public nuiaance. Th• City Attorney atated that auch a declaration had no legal
.. an• u•••r our ordinance• and that to pa•• an ordinance eatabliahing auch a
nuiaance would not effect the exi•ting one but only tho•• erected or coming into
u .. after the ordinance waa paaaed.
'lb• Mayor •n arized that although there waa little to be done by the City
to alleviate the probl.. that a letter would be written to indicate the oppoai-
tion of the neighborhood including the fact that .. vent .. n peraona were preaent
at th• council ••ting to expr••• their oppoaition.

Mr. Bdward T. Paca inquired whether a letter written to Mayor Love had been
received. Th• Mayor indicated that he had received the letter ••king for a thr••
foot width •idewalk along Baat Quincy Avenue when it i• improved in connection
with the conatruction of atreet• in Pavin9 Diatrict llo. 14.
Mr. Paca urged that every conaideration of th• citiaena deairea be given
aa th••• deair•• are very illportant to the coreunity and to th• council. Mr.
Paca aaked if he may be granted the privilege to th• aid.walk conatructed by a
private contractor. Be indicated th• great aaving to th• property owner• by
having thi• permiaaion granted. 'l'h• Mayor reported the March 15th deadline had
been ••tabliahed for th• private conatruction of aid.walk• and thia deadline
had long paat. Mr. Paca objected that h• had not received notice of the dead-
line and requeated that the deadline be ••t aaide. The Mayor atated that thi•
waa illpoaaible and that the legal notice in the newapaper waa auff icient notice
to the property owner•.

with Mr. Baaae to diacuaa the current atatua of the interaection and atudi•• un-
der way to provide adequate acceaa into Englewood downtown area. He remarked

Councilman Jtreiling aaked if there were not the time to conaider the
appointment of an auditor for 1964. Diacu••ion en•ued. The City Manager com-
.. nted that although there waa no need ~o appoint thi• early auch an appointment
would tend to provide the City with the same or better time acheduling of th•
audit when completed. There wa• no action on thi• matter.
Councilman Fullerton inquired about the recent negotiation• if any to
acquire adequate City Ball facilitiea. Diacu••ion en•ued.
