Clerk read Resolution as follows:
The CitJ Council of the City of Englewood, Colorado, feeling that an
injustice has been done to Thomas UcGrath, by discharging him feo~ him from
the position of manager of the distribution systems of the Colorado Central
Power Company in Englewood and Littleton because of the election authorizing
the City Council of the City of Englewood to acquire the distribution s7stem
resulting in favor of a municipal owned plant and distribution system as
against the distribution system of the Colorado Central Power Company. The
Cit1 Council of the City of Englewood feel that the facts of the situation
should be presented to you in order to releave Mr.McGrath of an1 responsibility
in connection with results of said election.
·The City Council in January, l <J32, passed a resolution re .iuesting a
reduction of rates by the Colorado .Central Power Company in the City of
Englewood, Colorado, and ordered the City Clerk to notify the Colorado Central
?ower Compan7 of this re~•est, the City Council thereafter met with Mr.Booze
of the Colorado Central Power Company, who informed them that no reduction
00111.d or would be made, The people of the City of Englewood were protesting
against the rates charged by the Colorado Central Power Compan7 and against
the method of collection of bills by the Colorado Central Power Compan7, aa
re~uired b7 Llr.Booze, and insisted that the City Council secure a reduction
of rates or remed1 the situation for the relief of the people, the Council
then made investigations regarding municipal owned plants and distribution
s7steme. llr.Booze requested a second meeting of the Council after the agitation
for a municipal owned plant had become pronounced, at this second meeting a
alight reduction in rates were proposed by Mr.Booze, and when asked by ~r.Booze,
.what the Council wanted in reduction in rates, the Ua7or asked for the same
rates as Denver for this City and was infor~ed by ~r.Booze that they could
not grant the came.
The Cit7 Council then proceeded to submit to the people at a special
election the ;uestion of ac4uiring an electrical light plant and distribution
a7stem. to be owned by the Cit7. There has never been an7 objections b7 the
Cit7 Council or b7 the Cit7 of Englewood to the management of the local
distribution system by ur.UcGrath. on the contrary Ur.McGrath bas been alW8JS
held in high esteem by the City Council and by the City of lnglew~od an4 the
reeult of the election can in no manner be attributed to an7 feeling ot
diasatistaction of the management of Ur.McGrath.
