FINAL REGULAR SESSION OF THE RETIRING CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO,
HELD MONDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 1957.

Mayor Purcell called the session to order. The invocation was given by
Reverend Hubert Underhill, Pastor of the Mayflower Congregational Church.

Mayor Purcell asked for roll call:
PRESENT: Braun, Brownewell, McCabe, McLellan, Parker, Rapp, Robbins,
Scott and Purcell.

There were no pre-scheduled citizens or visitors.

Communciations were presented from the Zoning Board of Adjustment concerning
the J. A. Barton Variance for Off-Street Parking and the Broadhurst Nursing Home
and were received by the Council.

A communication was presented from the Planning Commission on the Franzman-
Folkerts Sub-division. The report was received by the Council.

A communication was received from the Planning Commission on their reaction
to the I.C.R.P.C., report on "Work and People".

Planning Commission's report and that
same be transmitted to the I.C.R.P.C.

the Police Department to make periodic reports
on Roxy's Bar each thirty days to the City
Council, in additbn to the regular quarterly
report which has been presented in the past, a
copy of each such report to be given to each
Councilman.

AN QRDINANCE DEFINING PUBLIC SWIMMING POOLS, POOL OPERATOR, NATURAL BATHING PLACE:
REQUIRING ACCORD OF INSPECTION SERVICES AND LICENSES; PROVIDING FOR THE ENFORCEllBNT OF
THIS ORDINANCE, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO MAKE REASONABLE INSPECTIONS AND INVESTIGATIONS;
REGULATING THE SANITARY OPERATION OF SWIMMING POOLS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES.

HEREWITH.

A petition was presented from the property owners along Ball-Isle Drive, bearing
twenty two signatures, re~uesting that the name of Bell-Isle Drive be retained and not
changed to South Mariposa Drive as proposed in the Ordinance.

Council.

A letter was received from Mr. Howard M. Carlson, 1481 Bates Parkway, thanking
the Mayor and Council for the time and consideration which they gave on the recent
appeal to have their street name unchanged, and also commending the City Council
on the manner in which it governs its actions according to the will of the majority
of the citizens.

Mr. L. R. Rudd, City Manager, presented a sketch of the proposed location of
the new proposed fire training tower.

Mr. L. R. Rudd, City Manager, commented on Tipton and Kalmbach's plans and
specifications for Western Slope development as per the report which was banded to
the Council.

Mr. L. R. Rudd, City Manager, spoke on the construction of the road through the
Atchison Ranch, leading to the Martin Plant, and asked to get approval of the Council
for a contractor to borrow dirt for construction of the road, from certain sections
of the ranch.

borrowing dirt for construction of the road

The City Manager presented the report of the City Clerk-Treasurer on the
financial status of the City of Englewood for the month of October. The report
was received by the Council.

Each of the Councilmen briefly stated how much they had enjoyed working with
the Mayor and Council the past two years during their term in office.

Councilman McCabe, on behalf of the Council members presented Mayor Purcell
with a gavel as a token of esteem from all members of the Council who bad worked
with him.

Mayor Purcell presented a resolution as follows:
R E S 0 L U T I 0 N
WHEREAS, during the tema of the City Council ending on November 18, 1957, the
said City Council and the City of Englewood have received unselfish and unstinting
assistance in the furthering of the aims and objectives of the City of Englewood
from the various boards, commissions, special appointive committees, Council-
appointed officials, department heads and city employees, as well as fro• the press
and radio media within said City; and,
WHEREAS, the said City Council desires to have its appreciation made a matter
of record of the City of Englewood and a copy thereof delivered to each individual
member of said boards, commissions, special appointive committees and media, as well
as to the Council-appointed officials, department heads and city employees as a
token of appreciation for their invaluable assistance in furthering the aims and
objectives of the City of Englewood during the past term of this Council,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Englewood,
Colorado, this 18th day of November, 1957, that each and every individual member
of the boards, commissions, informational media and special appointive committees
of the City of Englewood during the term of this Council from 1955 to 1957,
together with the Council-appointed officials, department beads and city employees
be and they are hereby commended for their loyal, unselfish, and unstinting assistance
during said term in furthering the aims and objectives of the City of Englewood;

and that as a token of appreciation a copy of this Resolution be delivered to each 1 ...
individual member of said boards, commissions, inf~rmational media and special
appointive committees, as well as to the Council-appointed officials, department .
heads and city employees.
