A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CO LLE CTIVE
BARGAINING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE ENGLEWOOD EMPL OYEES
ASSOCIATION AND THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD FOR THE PERIOD OF JANUARY 1,
2003 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2003 .
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Englewood authorized "The Co llective
Bargaining Agreement" with the Englewood Employees Association for 2002 ad 2003 , by the
passage of Resolution 62 , Series 2001, which provided for a negotiation of the 20 0 3 salaries
for the Englewood Employees Association: and
WHEREAS , the City of Englewood and the Englewood Employees Association entered
into negotiations in May, 2002 in accordance with the Englewood City Home Rule Charter:
and
WHEREAS, the authorized representatives of the Englewood Employees Association have
approved this Amendment to the Collective Bargaining Agreement whir.h provides for a three
and eight tenths percent (3.8%) cost of living increase on the 2002 base wage rate which
shall be effective January 1, 2003 ; and
WHEREAS, the passage of this Resolution will authorize an amendment to the salary
provisions of Article Nine, Section E of the "Co ll ective Bargaining Agreement" between the
Englewood Employees Association and tb City of Englewood for the year 2003, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO , AS FOLLOWS:
~-The City · uncil of the City of Englewood , Colorado hereby approves the
Amendment to the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Englewood Employees
Association and the City of Englewood for the period of January 1, 2003 through December
31, 2003, attached he reto as Exhibit A.
~-The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized to sign and attest the
Amendment to the Coll ective Bargaini.ag Agreement between the Englewood Employees
Association and tl.ie City of Englewood, Colorado , for the period of January l, 2003 through
De ce mber 3 l. 2003 .

RECOMMENDED ACTION
Staff requests Counci l approva l, by resol ution, of the salary provisions of the Collective Bargai ning
Agreeme nt betw een the Engl ewood Emp loyees Assoc iation and th e City of Englewood fo.-2003. Th e
contract covers approxim atel y 224 emr ;oyees.
BACKGROUND, ANA LYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IDENTIFIED
The City of Eng lew ood and the Englewood E• 1ployees Association entered into w age negotia ti ons in
May of 200 2 in accorda nce w ith th e City of Engl ewood Charter. Auth oriz ed representatives of th e
Englewood Employees Association approve J the amendmer,t to the Collective Bargaining Agreem ent.
The onl y change to the contract is under Arti cle 9, page 10. Employees covered by the con tr act w ill
recei ve a th ree and eig ht te nth s percent (3 .8%) inc rea se OP the 2002 base wage rate effective Jan uary
1, 2003 .
FINANCIAL IMP ACT
The impact of the incr~ase on wag es lo r 2003 is approxi mately $348,380.

ARTICLE 9. COM?ENSA TION
A. E:ich employee in the classified service shall be paid ar one of the rates set fonh in the
pay pl an for the class in which chey are employed.
8 . Ac least the minimum race of pay for a class sh all be paid 10 an em pl cyee who is
st:ir1ing his employment with the Ciry .
C. When a regular full-time position not under the classified serv ice is brought into che
classified service. tb~ rate of pay of the incumbent may be set by the Ciry at tile step closest to his
current rare in the grade es ta blished for the class. In such cases there will be no reduction in pay.
D. A change in anni versary date will result when:
( I) The em9loyee is on leave without pay . The previous anniversary date shall
be adjusted or,e month for each twenry-two (2 2) working days ofleave wi thouc pay
in an y twelve ( 12) month perioo .
(?) The employee terminates his employment and later is reemp loyed. The new
anniver.;ary date shall be decermined by his new em ployment dace .
(3) When it is determined chat che emplo yee merits an increase . che dace of the
increase will determine the new anniversary date.
