SERIES OF 2001
A RESOLUTION APPROVI NG COMPENSATION PLANS FOR MANAGERIAL.
SUPERVISORY, CONFIDENTL,\L AND PART-TIME EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD FOR THE YEAR 2002.
WHEREAS, by Charter amendment effective April 13 , 1981 , City Council provided for the
establishment of managerial and sup ervisory employees within the service of the City of
En dew ~'\Od; and
I 'IHEREAS, by virtue of manag erial nnd supervisory duties assigned to these positions by
the 1.::ity ~.f..anager, it has been determined that they are excluded from membership ,
pa• ticipation or repre sentation in any collectively bargained employee system of the r izy of
Englewood; and
WHEREAS, by Charter amendment effective April 13, 1981, City Coun:~ ;,, • ·'.sd lo~ the
establishment of confidential employees within the service of the City of Englewcod; •nd
WHEREAS , by virtue of the duties assigned to these positions by th,, City Manager or the
City Attorney, it has been determined that they are confidential and t!lerefore the City makes no
promise of continuous e: 1ployment, permanent employment or any ,,pecific length of employment
and these employees are therefore exclu ded from membership , parti-:ipation or representation in
any collectively bargained employee system of the City of Englewood and are exempt from the
Career Service System; and
WHEREAS , part-time employees are de5.ned to be those working fewer than 40 hours per
week; and
WHEREAS, the City make s no promise of continuous employment, permanent employment
or any specific len gth of employment and these employees are therefore excluded from
membership, participation or representation in any collectively bargained employee system of
the City ::if Englewood and are e:tempt from the Career Service System: and
WHEREAS , this Resolution will not app ly to Directors whose compensation is set by the City
Manager: and
WHEREAS, this Resolution will not apply to the City ::Vlanager. the City Attorney and the
Municipal Court Judge who are compensated by the City Council unJe r separate resolutions;
and
WHEREAS . this Resolution will not apply to emplorees covered by a union in the City of
Englewood as they aie co mpensate d by contrn.ct under •Jeparate resolutions: and

• NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, THAT:
Sm:liwl,.l. The City Council of the City of Englewood , Colorado hereby approve, the following
pay increaaes on the 2001 base wage rate effective for the second paycheck in 2002 with a pay
date of January 17, 2002, for the ·alendar year of 2002:
1) Managerial, supervisory, and confidential employees of the City of
Englewood -4.25%.
2) Part-time employees o:f the City of Englewood -4.0%.

COUNCIL GOAL ANU PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION
Council previously approved a resolution in 2000 grantin 6 2001 wage increases of: 3.5% for
man ageria l, supervisory, and confidential employees of the City of Englewood and 3.3% for part-ti• ne,
benefit eligible employees.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Staff requests Council approval of the attached resolution for a cost of living adjustment (COLA) for
calendar yea r 2002 for the following groups of employees:
Managerial and supervisory employees (General Services, Police and Fire)
Confidential employees
Part-ti me empl~yees
BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IDENTIFIED
Employees covered by this re so lution will receive the following increase on the 2001 base wage
rate:
Managerial, supervisory and confidential employees: 4.25%
Part-time employees 4.00%
The increase w ill be effective on the paycheck to be issued on )anua ry 17, 2002, covering the pay
period of December 31, 2001 through )anuary 13, 2002.
The adjustments are comparable to the 4.00% increase to be awarded the Englewood Employee
Association.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The projected impact of the COLA on wages for 2001 is approximately $294,908 for managerial,
supervisory and confident ial employees, and $55,938 for part-time employees.
