HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001 Resolution No. 081RESOLUTION NO . 'lL SERIES OF 2001 A RESOLUTION FOR REAPPOINTMENT OF JOHN LOUIS PARKINSON AS ASSOCIATE MUNlCIPAL JUDGE FOR THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO . WHEREAS, pursuant to Article IX, Part II, Section 68 , of the Englewood Home Rule Charter, "Council may appoint one or more associate judges. who shall ait at 1uch times and upon such causes as shall be determined by the presiding municipal judge;" and WHEREAS , Associate Judges are appointed for four year staggered terms; and WHEREAS, John Louis Parkinson's present term expin!s Deo,mber 31 , 2001 ; and WHEREAS, Associate Judge Cohn serves until 1/31/01 ; Asaociate Judge Dawson serve• until 5/4/02; Associate Judge O'Brien serve• until 9/17/05; and Asaociate Ju~ S1D1th serves until 12131/05; and WHEREAS, Judge Vincent Atencio requesta the Council appoint John Louia Parkinson to another four year term as an Associate Judge for the City of Englewood; NOW, 1'HEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO , THAT: ~-John Louis Parkinson, shall be and hereby is reappointed as • ..ssociate Municipal Judge in and for the City of Englewood, Colorado, for a term commencing January 1, 2002 and expiring December 31 , 2005. Louis Palklnson INITIATED BY : Municipal Court I STAFF SOURCE: Tamara Wolfe, Court Administrator COUNCIL GOAL AND PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION TI,e Municipal Court supports City Council's goal of providing appropriate service levels by requesting that they continue to re-appoint Associate Judges to serve the City of Englewood . RECOMMENDED ACTION Presiding Judge Vin ce nt Atencio requests that th e Council re-appoint J. Louis Parkinson to serve another 4-year term as an Associate Judge for th e City of Engl ewood, commencing January 1, 200:2 and expiring December 31 , 2006 . BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IDENTIFIED Assoc ia te judges are required in order for the Court to maintain a full time, full service, schedule . The associate judges fill in for th e Pres iding Judge when there is a co nflict of 'nteres~ illness, or va cation . They may also serve as an additional judge when th e vo lum e of cases demands.
