RECOMMENDED Ac·rI0N
Staff recomme nd s the City Council approve this msolution for a suppl emental appropriation end
transfer from the General Fund to the Public Improvement Fund .
BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IDENTIFIED
In 1996 t~e City applied for ISTEA funds to widen and improve lh e Broadway from Yale Avenue to
Hampden . At that time the estimated cost of the improvements we , $3 ,729,767 . To date , the City
has spent $457,430 on design work , a_nd an additional $356 ,724 will be spent for construction
engineering and testing . The original construction budget was $2,707 ,050 .
The apparent low bidder was Concrete Works of Ct1lorado at $2 ,983 ,614 .96. This bid indicates that
higher energy costs and the tight construction market in the Den ver-Metro area has pushed pri ces
much higher than estimated .
To ensure the City d Englewood reta ins th e funds from the ~lat e of Colorado and th e federa1
government , it will requ ire the City to increase its share of the fu nding by S10 6,653.
