HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000 Resolution No. 080• RESOLUTION NO.gt} SERIES OF 2000 • • A RESOLUTION APPROVING COMPENSATION PLANS FOR MANAGERIAL, SUPERVISORY, CONFIDENTIAL AND PART-TIME BENEFITS-ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD FOR THE YEAR 2001. WHEREAS, by Charter amendment effective April 13, 1D81, City Council provided for the establishment of managerial and supervu;ory employees within the serv..ce of the City of Englewood; and WHEREAS , by virtue of manRgerial and supervillOry duties assigned to these positions by the City Manager, it has been determined tha I they ore excluded from membenhlp, participation or representation in any collectively bargained employee system o( the City of Englewood; and WHEREAS, by Charter an,endment effective April 13, J 981, City Council provided for the establiahment of confidential emplO';ees within the service of the City of Englewood; anii WHEREAS, by virtue of the duties assigned to these positions by the City Manager or the City Attorney, it has been determined that they are confidential aJ¥l therefore the City makes no promise of continuous employment, permanent employment or any specific 1len,lth of employment and these employees are therefore excluded from membership, participation or representation in any collectively bargained employee system of the Cil'J of Englewood and are exempt from the Career Service System; and WHEREAS, part-time benefits-eligible employees are defined to be those working an average of 20 or more hours per week; and WHEREAS , the City makes no promise of continuous employment, permanent employment or any specific length of employment and these employees are therefore excluded from membership, participation or representation in any collectively bargained employee syitem of th e City of Englewood nnd are exe mpt from the Career Service System; and WHEREAS, this Resolution will not apply to Directors whose compensation is set by the City Mana~er; and WHEREAS, this Resolution will not apply to the City Manager, the City Attorney and the Municipal Court Judge who nre compensated by the City Coun ci l under separate resolutions; and WHEREAS, this Re solution will not apply to employees ccvered by a union in the City of Englewood as they are compensated by contract under separate resolutions: and WHEREAS , under the Compensation Plane for managerial, supervisory, confidential, and part-tine benefits-eligible employees, City Council desires to establish the pay rates for the year 200]; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO , THAT: ~-The City Council of the City of Englewood, Colorado hereby approve■ the following poy increa■ee on the 2000 base wage rate effective for the first paycheck in 2001 with a pay date of January 4, 2001, for the calendar year of 2001: 1) Managerial. supervisory, and confidential employees of the City of Englewood -3.5%. 2) Part-time benefita-eligible employees of the City of Englewood • 3.8%. COUNCIL COMMUNICATION Date Agenda Item September 5, 2000 10 cl Subfect: 2001 Cost of Living Ad ustment INITIATED BY: STAFF SOURCE: Human Resources De artment Sue Eaton , Director of Human Rase~:~ COUNCIL C"OAL AND PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION Council previously approved a resolution in 1999 granting 2000 wage increases of: 3.25% for managerial , supervisory, and confidential employees of the City of Englewood and 3.0% for unclass if ied , benefits eligible and part-time, benefits eligible employees. RECOMME~:OED ACTION Staff requests Council approval of the attached resolution for a cost of living adjustment (COLA) for calendar year 2001 for the following groups of employees : Managerial and supervisory employees (General Services, Police and Fire) Confidential employees Part-time, benefit eligible employees BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IC!l:.N'ilFIED Empl oye es covered by this resolution will rece ive the following increase on the 2000 base wage rate: Managerial , supervisory and confidential employees : Part-time , benefit-elig ible employees 3.5% 3.3% The increase will be effective for the first paycheck in 2001 -January 4, 2001 . The adjustments are comparable to the 3.3% increase to be awarded the Englewood Employee Association. FINANCIAL IMPACT The projected impact of the COLA on wages for 2001 is ap~roximately $228 ,314. for managerial, supervisory and confident ial employees, and $56,874 for part-time , benefit-eligible employees .
