A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, 9()LORADO, OPPOSING
STATEWIDE BALLOT ISSUE "AMENDMENT 24" ENTITLED CITIZEN MANAGEMENT
OF GROWTH .
WHEREAS, the Colorado Secretary of State baa found that the proponenta of
Amendment 24, "Citizen MaoAgement of Growth," have collected enough aignaturea to
preeent the meaaure to the votera on the November 7, 2000 ballot; and
WHEREAS, the Colorado Fair Campaign Practices Act , at C.R.S . l-45-117(1)(b)(IIn(A)
a uthoriz.es this body to adopt a resolution taking a position of advocacy on any statewide
ballot isaue ; and
WHEREAS, Amendment 24 provides that development mey only occur in "Committed
Areas," "Growth Areas" (which must be approved bv the voters at a November election) and
wi thin certain exceptions; and
WHEREAS , Amendment 24 would erode local land use control; and
WHEREAS , Amendm ent 24 would establish an ambiguous and complicated land uee
regu!Atory system; and
WHEREAS, Am•!ndmcnt 24 would be extremely costly and difficult for the City of
Englewood, Colorado to implement; and
WHEREAS, Amendment 24 is unlikely to achieve the proponenta stated goal of curbing
"sprawl";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, THAT:

ita st-tong opposition to Amendment 24 , entitled "Citimn Management of Growth" and
encourages its citizens to be co me full y educated on the issues surrounding this initiative, as
well as a ll other prop osa ls that may app ear on the ballot at the statewide election on
November 7, 2000 and to exe rcise their right to vote .
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 2nd of October, 2000 .
