A RESOLUTION APPROVING At\l T CREASE IN BhNEFITS FC'0 THE RETIRED
POLICE CFFICERS.
WHEREAS, the Englewood Police Officers Pension Bo ard reviewed the benefits for the
Police Officer Retirees and recommends approval of a $100 monthly increase for those Police
Officers who have retired as of January 1, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the passage of this Resolution will increase retired Polic, Officers pension
payments, and is to become effective January 1, 2001 for those Police Officers who retired
prior to J anuary 1, 1998;
NOW , THERiFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, THAT:
~-The City Council of the City of Englewood hereby approves the increase in
benefits for the retired Poli ce Officers Effective January 1, 2001. All members whose
payments commenced prior to January 1, 1998, shall receive an increase of one hundred
dollars ($100.00) per month to their pension benefits with surviving spouses receiving a fifty
dollar ($5 0.00) per month pension benefit increase.

COUNCIL GOAL AND PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION
City Council has met with representatives of the Police Officers Pension Board in the past to discuss
common concerns , including benefits and funding .
RECOMMENDED ACTION
The Police Offi ce rs Pension Board approved a $100 per month benefit increase effective January 1,
2001 to all participants retired as of January 1, 1998 , and a $50 increase to surviving spoi.ses
receiving benefits prior to January 1, 1998 . The Board requests City Council approve a resolution
supporting their decision .
FINANCIAL IMPACT
This action will not directly impact the financial condition of the City of Englewood as the Police Officer
Pension Fund is currently fully funded and the City is only making required minimum contributions.
