A RESOLUTION AF. PROVING AN INCREASE IN BENEFITS FOR 1HE RETIRED
FIREFIGHTERS .
WHEREAS, the Englewood City Council approved ('ie City ofEngl•wood's 1999 Budget
on October 19, 1998; and
WHERE> S, the Englewood Firefighters' Pension &,ard have reviewed the increase in
benefits for the Fireaghter Retirees and racommende approval of a $100 monlhly i.nauN
for those Firefighters' who retired as of January 1, 1998 ; and
WHEREAS , the paBBBge of this Resolution will increase the retired Firefi&htera pension,
to become effective July 1, rn!/9 for the retired Firefighters who retired as of January 1,
1998 ;
NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO , THAT:
~cl-The City Council ~f the City of Englewood hereby approves the increase in benefits
for the retired Firefightera Effective July 1, 1999. 1.11 membe.\'8 whoee payments
commenced prior to January 1, 1998, shall receive an increase of $100.00 per month to their
pension benefits with surviving spouses receiving one-third (1/3) of the $100.00 pension
benefit increw,e .
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 3rd day of May, 1999.

COUNCIL GOAL AND PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION
City Counc il has met with representatives of the Firefighters Pension Board in the past to discuss
common concerns, Including benefits and funding.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
The Firefighters Pension Board app roved a $100 .00 per month benefit increase effective July 1, 1999
to all participants retired as of January 1, 1998. The Board requests City Council approve a resolution
supporting their decision .
RNANCIAL IMPACT
This action will not directly impact the financial condition of the City of Englewood as the Firefighter
Pension Fund Is fully funded and the City is only making minimal required contributions .
