A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE NOMINATION 01' TIFFANY BANNING
FOR THE 1998 METROPOLITAN MAYORS AND COMMISSIONERS YOUTlf AWARDS
WHEREAS, the Mclropolitan Mayors and Commissioners Youth Awards arc prc.s,ntcd each year to
youth from the ages of 13 lo I 9 who have risen above personal difficulties and created positive changes In their
environments: the unsung heroes who have seived !heir communities , their families. other youth. or themselves
in a ~nelkial and caring way: and
WHEREAS. the Clly of Englewood wishes to recognize and honor the_young people who make ·,
difference In our community: and
WHEREAS. Tiffany Banning. a student In lhe Englewood Student Option Program. has ~n nominated
as a candidate for the MetropoJ;tan Mayors and Commissioners Youth Awards: and
WHEREAS . Tiffany has overcome difficulties she had In school, and aner dropping out of two high
schools. determined the Importance of her education: and
WHEREAS. Tiffany hasn "t QiJII on herself or her education . and recently earned her General Eq_ulvalency
Diploma (GED): and
WHEREAS. Tiffany has secured full-time employment. and maintains a ninel:)'-eight percent attendance
rate at school and a one-hundred percent attendance and punctualif:Y record at 1YOrk: and
WHEREAS . Tiffany has exhibited the tenaciry to succeed. and is taking the necessary steps to ensure her
future success:
OW . THEREFORE . BE IT R50LVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF [NGLEWOOD.
