RE: : 998 Supplemental Appropriation Request
The Depanment of Neighborhood and Bu sine ss De ve lopment is requ esting ~ supplemental
appropriation of $150,000. This appropriat io n is necessary because of ~ extraordinary
expenditures related to an Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant and the
redevelopment of Cinderell a City . The EDA awarded a S60,000 planning gr,mr to the City in
1998. The grant funds will be availa ble in 1999, but the EDA required that the focal mate~ of
$25 ,000 be ma de in 1998. The ongcing redevelopment of Cinderella City has req,::i.-ed additional
consultant ex penditure s of $125,000. These costs were not anticipated during tl:ae 1998 budget
preparation and are a result of the need for e,perti se not available in-house.
