A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEME'l-"7.' W1i'H RANDALL & BLAKE, IN C.
FOR TliE CONSTRUCTION OF A WATER LINE .E:XTI!i!ilSION LOCATED AT SOUTH
WINDERMERE STREET AND WEST UNION .\VENUE' FOR THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO.
WHEREAS, the Englewood Utilities Department has to relocate and upsize two water
mains that are bein g affected by tee South Windermere im,.provements; and
WHEREAS, the 27" raw water line from Union Avenue ?ump Station and the 16" treated
water line which services the Centennial area of the City """ affected ; and
WHEREAS, The Colorado Department of TransportatiOIO installed a new 36" raw water
main and a 24" treated water main under the railroad bads:,; and South Santa Fe; and
WHEREAS, the City now needs to ext.em, e mains to, South Windermere Avenue
where they will be co nnected during the upcoming Winder.nere Improvement Project; and
WKEREAS, the 24" treated water main, and the 36" raw water main will be installed by
Randall & Blake, Inc. (RBI) who is the contracto r who wu .awarded the Colorado
Department of Trancportatioa (C DO'f ) Project named -W-mdermere, Belleview North";
a nd
WHEREAS , COOT will not allow other conrracu,rs to eoer project limits during
construction for liability reasons ; and
WHEREAS . if the En glewood Utiliti es Department waited t,, install and tie into existing
mains after RBI's project was complete , several large ara:s of new asphalt and curb and
gutter would h ave to be excavated and r epl aced: and
WHEREAS , waiting would not be a finan cially feas ibl e alteroative and lesves L,e City
at substantial ri sk for a longer period of tim e beca use the old lines under Santa Fe and th e
railroad wou!d re main in commission s ub stantially longer, and
WHEREAS. it is projec ted that the entire project will be compl eted by November 12, 1997;

Utili ties Department wid1 a construction schedule indicating th e planned dates of work
for each bid item . E.~c:;,t fer :nclement wc:ither or other circ-Jmstances beyond the
Contractor's control , tbe Co ntract or will be expected to perfor:'n on ichcdule .
