-METROPOLITAN MAYORS ANO COMMISSIONERS YOUTH AWARD .
WHEREAS. the Metropolitan Mayors and Commissioners Youth Awards arc presented ,each year to
youth from th e zgts of 13 to 19 who have risi:n above personal difficulties and created positive changes In their
environments : the unsung heroes who h.M: served their communities, their families . other youth, or them se lves
in a bc t1 enc1al and caring way: and
WHEREAS. the City of Englewood wishes to reMgr.izc and honor the young people who make a
difference in our community: and
WHEREAS, Rclx.«.a Wood. a student at Colorado 's Finest Altcrnatlve High School. has been nominated
as a ca ndidate for I~ Metropo litan Mayors and Commissione!'S Youth Award: and
WHEREAS. Rebecca . after experiencing difficulties at a traditional high sch oo l, sta rted at Colorado 's
Anesi Alternatlvc High School with little or no credit; and
WHEREAS . Rebecca is committed to he r education. and through hard work and perseverance. will
complete nearly four years of work in just over two and one half years: and
WHEREAS, Rebecca is very active: in addition to her full class load at school. she works as an Intern at
t'ic South Fellowship Church Youth Group for twenty to thirty hours a week. and she volunteers her services to
,iclp others in her spare lime ; and
A WHEREA' Rebecca is a positive rcle model for her fellow students --on various occasions. she has W' spoken to college . J civic groups about hv school and I~ challenges she has faced in educati•Jn: and
WHEREAS. Kebecca is a dedicated stu .,,:et and a caring human being and is su re to be succr,sfui in life
and make a positive impact on society:
NOW. THEREFORE . BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD.
COLORADO . THAT :
The Englewood City Council wishes to recognize Rebecca Wood and to support her nomination for the 1996
Metropolitan Mayors and Commissioner s Youth A1vard.
