SERIES OF 1995
A RESOLUTION APPROVING COMPENSATION PLANS ~OR MANAGERIAL ,
SUPERVISORY, CONFIDENTIAL, UNCLASSIFIED AND PART -TIME BENEFITS -
ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD FOR THE YEAR 1996.
WHEREAS , by Charter amendment effectiv e Ap~ 13, 1981 , City Council provided for the
establi shment of managerial and supenrisory employees within the service of the Ci ty of
Englewood ; and
WHEREAS, by virtue of managerial and supervisory duties assigned to these positions by
the City Manaver, it has been determined that they are ezcluded from membership ,
participation or representation in an y co llecUvely bargained employee system \l f th e City of
En glewood ; and
WHEREAS, by Charter am endm ent effective April 13 , 1981 , City Council provided for the
establishment of confidential empl oyees within the service of the City of Englewood; and
WHEREAS, by virtue of the duti es assigned w these positions by the City Manager , it b as
been determined that they are conf.J ential and therefore the City makes no promi se of
c.o ntinuous employmer.t . permanent e mploym ent , r any specific length of employment and
these e mpl oyees are there.fore excluded from membership, participation or representation in
any collectively bargained employee system of the City of Englewood and are ex empt from the
Career Ser.rice System; and
WHEREAS, part-~me benefits-eligibl e employees are defined to be those working ""
average of20 or more hours per week over a 12 mnnth period '-i'i th no break in service; and
WHEREAS, the City makes no prom ise of continuous empl oyment, permanent employment
or any specific length of •m~loyment a.'ld these employees are therefore excluder. from
membership, participation or representation in any collectively bargain ed employee sys tE:.n of
the Ci ty of Englewood and are exem pt from the Caree r Sen,i ce System; and
WHEREAS, this Resolution would not apply to the City Manager, the City Atwrney and the
Muni ci pal Court Judge wh o ar e compensated by ~e City Co un cil und e r separate resolutions ;
and
WHEREAS, this ResolJtic-,uld not apply Direc tors whose co mpensation is set by the City
Man age r ; and
WHEREAS , thi s Reso-.ution would not apply ·.o employees co,•er ed by a union in the City of
En slewood as th ey a.re compensated by contratt under separnte resolutions; and
WHEREAS , und er the Cc.:npensation Plans fo r managerial. sup ervisory, confidential ,
unclassified and part-time b an elits-eligible empl oyees , City Council desires to establish the
pa•· rates for the year 1996; ' ·
NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD , COLORADO , '1'HAT :

man agerial, supervisory , confidential , unclaasified and part,.tim e ben efi ts-eligibl e
employees of the City of Englewood for the calendar year 1996 which shall increase by 3.5% on
the 1995 base wage rate effective for the first paycheck in 1996 with a pay date of January 12,
1996.

COUNCIL GOAL AND PREVlOUS COUNCIL ACTION
Counci l previously approved resolutions in 1994 granting wage increases in 1995 of 2.25% on
the 1994 base wage rate effec tive January 1, 1995 and an addilional 1.25% increase on the 1994
• base wage rate effective July 1, 1995.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Staff requests Council approval of the attached res(llution for cost of living (COLA) wage
increases for calendar year 1996 for the following groups of employees:
Managerial a,,,:1 supervisory employees (General Services, Police and Fire)
Confidential employees
Part-lime, benefit-eligible employees
Unclassified, benefit-eligible employees
BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IDENTIFIED
Employees covered by this resolution wm receive a three a nd one-half percent (3 .5%) increase
on the 1995 base wage rate. The increase will be effecti~·e fo . the first pa/check in 1996 with a
pay date of January 12, 1996.
