A RESOLUTION AMEJl!DING Tl:IE APPROVED 1994 BUDGET AND APPROPRIATING
MONIES FOR THE PURCHASE OF A NEW CRACK POURING KETI'LE FOR THE
PUBLIC WORKS, STREETS DMSION OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COWRADO .
WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Englewood, Colorado, desires to change the
1994 Annual Budget; and
WHEREAS, the Streets Divisi on of the Public Work s Departme nt has had an
unanti cipated expendi ture of $24,500, due to the failure of the crack pouring kettle which is
used to maintain Englewood streets; and
WHEREAS, a crack pouring kettle was purchased in 1987 and requires a repair
ex pendi ture of $8 ,700 .00, anc a new unit will provide reliability and should provi de a
service life of 7 years; and
WHEREAS , the Public Works Department recommends that in order to avoid such
un anticipated expenditar:,s in the future that the new kettle be pl aced on the CERF system,
so that this equipment will be r epl aced with funds budgeted in Streets for payment to the
CERF; and
WHEREAS , the City Charter all ows transfer of ap propriated monies between
departments' budgets with the approval of the City Counci l;
NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT RES OLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD, CO LORAD O, THAT :

BACKGROUND
Ordinance Nos. 50 and 5~ of 1993 -Council adopted the 1994
Annual Budget on final reading.
Resolution No. 3, Series of 1994 -Council amended the 1994 An-
nual Budget for the purchase of real property for the expansion
and improvement of the Golf Course ($681 ,334)
The existing crack p o uring kettle unit requires $8,700 in repairs; a new unit is estimated to
cost $24 ,500 . Tltl s was an unanticipated expenditure that was not included in the 1994 An-
nual Budget as originally adopted .
STAFF ANALYSIS
Staff recommends appropriating $i i,800 fr om the General Fund and $8,700 from the
Servicenter Fund to be used to purchase the crack pow:ing kettle .
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The General Fund balance will be reduced by $15,800, and Servicenter retained earnings
will be reduced by $8 ,700 .
