SBIUES OF 1994
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ENGLEWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY TO
IMPLEMENT THE ANNUAL "FOOD FOR FINES" PROGRAM FROM NOVEMBER 14,
1994 THROUGH DECEMBER 19, 1994.
WHEREAS, the Englewood Public Library bu aponaored a "Food for Finea" program
during the November/December holidays for the put four years; and
WHEREAS, the "Food for Fines· program allows patrons with overdue finea to "p,cy'
them off through the donation of non-peri shable food it,ms; and
WHEREAS, the food items are then forwarded to the lnterFaith Tuk Force for
distribution to financially disadvantaged families in the Englewood area; and
WHEREAS, the pn,gram is a benefit to the community in that the disadvantaged are
assisted and the air cleared with res pect to fines and the City receiving its library
materials back;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO , THAT:
lks:timl..l, The Englewood City Council hereby authorizes the Englewood Public Library
implementation of the annual "Food For Fines" program from November 14 , 1994 through
December 19, 1994. The "Food For Fines" will then be forwarded to the lnterFaith Task
Force for di!tribution to financially disadvantaged families in the Englewood area.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Library averages $1,200 • $1 ,500 per month In collecied iats fines" (I .~. cha,ges on boolc8 and 011-,

for the past few years, lhal amount dropped to an ••-.rage $800 • $1,000 , no doubt due to the 'Food for
Flrwe' program . Thla means that the City will probably lose about $400 • $800 In toffected overdue chargN
during this year's "Food for Anes" ftve week program.
