FOR THE ADOPTING OF A TRAVEL POLICY FOR THE C ITY COUNC Ii ,

WHEREAS, City Council finds it ne ces sa ry a nd prop,,r lo ju s tify
participation fo r a ll lra\'el events prior l o nl lendance ; on ,!
WHEREAS, Ci ty Cou nci l beli e\'eS that they can lea rn from other
councilmembers' parlicipnlion in e,·c nls lhrnugh th e pro \'i sion of n
su mmary explanation of p a rticipation; and
WHEREAS, as a group it i s necessary to make a co n sc ie ntiou s effort to
k eeo expe n ses lo a minimum by purchasing the low es t a\'n ib ble ai r fore,
s ecuring economy hotel a ccommod a t.ion s, a nd impl ementing othe r cost
saving m easures whene\'er p ossibl e; a nd
WHE REAS , Council fee l s i t i s approp,i ale to continually monitor
expe nditu res throughout the year; a nd
WHEREAS, a method of reducing 1•xpenditures is limiting out o f slate
tra,·el;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, THAT:
~-Each counci l member s hall justify participation for a ll tra\'el
e\'ents p,~or to attendance, a nd approved by ,·ate of th e Coun ci l.
~-That each councilmember pro,·ide a summary explaining the
nature of their participation and h ow it wi ll ben e fit or affect the City within
30 days after their return from an e\'en l.
~-Counci l as a group, shall mak e a co n sc ientious effo rt to
r emain within the de s ignated budget.
Section 4 Counci l shall make a dili gen t effort to keep expe n ses to a
minimum by purchasing lowest a\'ailable air fare. secu rin g economy hotel
accommod a ti ons, and implementi ng other cos t sa ,·in g mea sures whene,·er
p ossibl e .
