HomeMy WebLinkAbout1992 Resolution No. 048RESOLUTION NO. t/f SERIES OF 1992 -- INTRODUCED BY COUNCIL MEMBER HABENICHT A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING KEIT VAN NOTE 'S NOMINATI ON FOR THE YMCA MAYORS AND COMMISSIONERS 1992 YOUTH AWARD . WHEREAS, the youth of today are the lead ers of tomorrow a nd th e City of Englewood wishes to recognize the youths of our community who are the unsung heroes and do make a difference; and WHEREAS, the YMCA Mayors and Commissioners 1992 Youth Award is awarded to those youths who are behind-the-scene helpers, and to youths who give service to their community, their peers, their families, or their selves to oven:ome personal difficulties; an d WHEREAS, the Mayors and Commissioners from eight counties wish to honor youths from 13 to 18 years of age, and each city recognizes its nominees, who are then nominated to the county level, and eventually to the Metropolitan Award level; and WHEREAS, Keith Van Note has been nominated to receive the YMCA Mayors and Commissioners Youth Award; and WHEREAS, during his entire school career, Keith Van Note has been active in Student Government, and has served the last three years as Student Council Treasurer at Sheridan High School; and WHEREAS, Keith is interested in a career in the field of medicine, and earlier this )'l!U spearheaded an effort to hold a student health fair at Sheridan High School, which was a huge success; and is currently helping facilitate the undertaking of a Channel 9 Health Fair at his school; and Keith's interest in medicine prompted his enrollment in the AVS Health Occupations program at his school, and he currently serves as President of the local chapter of H.0.S.A. (a Health Occupation Oub) and is running for State President of H .O.S.A .; and WHEREAS, Keith is actively involved in his school's music and drama departments, playing trombone in the school band and the jazz band, in addition to jazz bands outside of school, and has performed in a number of drama performances at his school, and currently has the honor of playing the male lead in the school's production of 'Hello Dolly'; and WHEREAS, Keith's involvement in the community includes having passed EMT training, and having participated in sean:h and rescue operations as a member of the Arapahoe Res cue Patrol; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, THAT: Sectio n I.
