W.-!EREAS, Keep Arneri c a Beaut i ful Comnission wa s established by Ordinance No . 50, Series o f 19 90; and WHERE/IS, under Title 2 , Olapter 8, Section 3 (C),the Keep America Beautiful Comti.s sion has the ability to form sub-cannittees with approval of the City Co uncil; and WHEREIIS, the five sub-camlittees will be established in order for the Keeo Arrerica Beautiful ca.mission to function nnre efficiently and to acccnplish its goals ; NCW, THEREFCRE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY CXXJNCIL CF nJE CITY CF E2'IGLlMlOO' COI.(RI\D()' THAT: Section l. The Englewood Keep America Beautiful Camlission shall establish Five (5) s~ttees to study and/or llll'lerent specific goals related to the l'A!l ' s function in order to acc:arq:,lish the KAB' s goals nnre e fficiently. The Five (5 ) s ub-<:armittees shall be: 1. fruNICIPAL SOLID ~ CXM-II'ITEE -which will concentrate a, two (2) issues of particular llTpOrtance to Englewood residents and busi ness : 1. low cost , quality trash hauling services, and 2 . Recycling. 2. ADOPT-.~-sror AND BF.l\tJrIFICATICN CCMU'!TEE -which will undertake ,>rograms s ll1\ll ar to the State of Colorado's "Adopt-A-Highway" program, but a, a local l evel. This sub-<:armittee will be developing a program where block , neighborhood , o r ci v i e groups , and b usine sses can "adopt" an area to keep clean and beauti fy. 3 . EIXJCAT I C!-1 CXM'U'ITEE -whi ch will deve l op programs to educate E:,glewood c:tlzens ahout l itter pr e vention , solid waste practi ces , recycling and other f>..nv ironrre ntal issues . The Fund Raieln g Committee wil l be implementing activities to help off-set some o f the coats ot t he commission's programs. The first Fund Ra i9ing activity planned will bo a golf t ournament August 26th 1t the Englewood Publ ic Golf Course.
