HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990 Resolution No. 023RESOLUTION NO. ,23 SERIES OF 1990 6 (b) (iii) A RESOLUTION OPPOSING HOUSE BILL 90-1123 CONCERNING NONWORK-HOURS ACTIVITY. WHEREAS, current law protects public em ployees from unreasonable and arbitrary a ctions by their employers; and WHEREAS, the lawful activity of an emp loyee off day may have severe ramification on the employee's work requirements and trust; and WHEREAS, the legal activity of alcohol consumption off-duty may interfere with employees' ability to . adequately perform their job functions; and WHEREAS, a public employer must have the ability to restrict an employee from activities constituting conflict of interest, such as, consulting to others relating to on-the-job activities; and WHEREAS, to provide for the most cost-effective and efficient management of risk programs, a public entity must be able to review and concur to all off-job employment activiti e s of employees; and WHEREAS, H.B. 1123 is state interference into local government employer-employee relationships; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, THAT: The City of Englewood opposes House Bill 90-1123.
