A RESOWl'IOO OPPOSING 'lllE ELIMINATIOO OF THE DEDUCTIBll.ITY CF LOCAL INCOIE AND
PJQ?ER'N TAXES.
WHERFAS, there was discussion during the oonsideration of 1986 Tax Reform
Act of eliminating the deductibility of state and/or local incane and property
taxes; and
WHERFAS, hare CMnership for a large nlmi:ler of citizens necessitates
cleductibili\.y of local taxes including property taxes; and
Wl!ERE.IIS, in its search for revenues to neet the Gramn-Ruanan-Hollings
deficit target, Congress is aice again looking at the cption of eliminating
the deax:tibili ty of local incare and property taxes ; and
l'll!EREAS, this proposal is contrary to ate of the nest cherished
principles of federalism: the notion of intergovernrrental reciprocal tax
immml.ty;

Section l. The City Council of the City of Englewood hereby voices
q,posi tion to the elimination of the deductibility of local property taxes and
loOllld urge all Englewood citizens to contact William Annstraig who is a nerber
of the senate Budget carmittee and Senate Finance camdttee, Tincthy E. Wirth
who is a nerber of the Senate Budget Ccmnittee and Englewood's representative
Daniel SChaefer in the House of Representatives, to defeat this ill conceived
