HomeMy WebLinkAbout1986 Resolution No. 047I RESOLUTION NO. __ 4'-'7 __ SERIES OF 1986 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING REVISIONS TO FIRE HYDRANT CHARGES AND THE "REVISED FLAT RATE WATER SCHEDULE RESOLUTION. 11 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Englewood, Colorado, at a regular session held December 19, 1977, adopted Resolution No . 47 , series of 1977 , "A Resolution Establishing a Revised Schedule for Flat Rate Water service," establishing certain fire hydrant charges; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that it is desirable to reduce charges from the General Fund for availability of service for public fire hydrants; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that certain modifications are desirable to provide a greater degree of control of the m~intenance to fire hydrants presently on the public water system under private ownership, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, as follows: Section l. As of July l, 1986 the Revised Flat Rate Water Resolution Rate Schedule is revised by the deletion of the monthly charges for public fire hydrants inside the City in part (b) under the section entitled "FIRE PROTECTION SERVICE." Henceforth there will not be a monthly flat rate for public fire hydrants located within the boundaries of the City. Section 2. All fire hydrants installed by new construction after July 1, 1986 by other than City forces will be installed to City specifications, including type, size and location. After inspection and approval by City personnel, the ownership of the hydrants and all associated valves and piping will be deeded over to the City and any easements necessary to service the hydrant and associated valves and piping will be given to the City as well. Once the deeds and any necessary easements are recorded, the City will assume the maintenance of the fire hydrant, although the standard one-year warranty period for the hydrant installation will still be in effect for repairs necessitated by improper installation. Section 3. To provide better control on the operation and maintenance of the existing private fire hydrants located within the City, the City will accept as public all hydrants currently undet p r ivate ownership provided: (a) The hydrant is of the proper size, type, and condition to be acceptable to City standards and specifications. (b) If appropriate, the ownership of the fire hydrant and associated valves and piping will be given to the City and recorded. (c) If appropriate, the easements necessary to service the fire hydrant and associated valves and piping will be given to the City and recorded. (d) All charges which have been assessed by the City under the Flat Rate Resolution shall have been paid in full. Section 4. The charges for private fire hydrants will remain in effect for fire hydrants located outside the City boundaries, and for existing private hydrants which are not in compliance with Section 3 of this Resolution.
