A RFSOLUTION A.'IDIDING THE GENERAL FUND.
WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Englewood, Colorado,
approved the taxi chip program by Resolution No . 51, Series of
1984, on Dacenbe r 17, 1984; and
WHER EAS, said Resolution was adopted after the 1985 budget
has been canpletecl; and
WHEREAS, the senior ci tizen r ec rea tion account will need $10 ,000
for the taxi coupons; and
WHEREAS, the Treasurer has certified that the re is a
sufficie nt cash surplus to meet the appropriat ion;
NCIN, THEREFORE , BE IT RFSOC.VED BY THE CITY CCIUll:IL OF THE
CI TY OF ENGLl:l-1000, COLORl\00, as follows:

BACKGROUNll
On December 17 1 1984 City Cou ncil passed Resol ution No . 5 '. amending
the 198 5 Budge t and se ttin g asi de $10,000 fo r a Taxi Cou pon Serv ice to
replace the Se nior Surre y .
The progr am which has Deen placed unde r the control of the Malley
Senior Recre ation Center wa s impleme nt e d January 1, l 985 and ... 111 con tinue
on a trial basis through Decembe r 31, 19 B5 . Se rvice will be limited t o
Englewood seniors over a ge 65 who mee t ce rtai n income c riteria and to
handi c apped r esidents wh o cannot dri ve .
'f he City wi ll purchas e pre-printed coupon book s (each va lu ed a t
$20 .00 ) (rom the Yello._ Cab Co mpany ove r the course o f the year . The
City will in turn s e ll t he books to eligibl e persons for $5 .00. Each
eli gi bl e person will be limit ed t o on e coupon book per month and the
books will be s o ld until the s uppl y run s out.
Th e budge t ed amo unt will bu y 50 0 c oupon books. Through the ir
sal e , the Ci t y will see a r e turn of $2 ,500 through "hich a n additiona l
I 125 books ma y be purchased.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recomm e nd e d that t h e Cit y Counci l appr ove the attached
Resolution t rans f e rr ing $10 ,000 f rom the Gen e ral Fund Rese r ve to
the Park s and Rec r ea tion Senio r Ci tiz e ns Recr ea ti on account f o r the
Taxi Co up on Se r v ice .
