A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE TERM OF THE "COU RT ADVISORY C(l,Y,II'ITEE".
WHEREAS, the Co ur t Advisory Ccmni ttee is established and
ex i s ting pursuant to Reso l ution 48 , Series of 1981 , a nd Resolution
12, Ser i es of 198 2; and
WHEREAS , t he Co u rt Adv i so ry Conm ittee hd s bee n he l pful in its
adv i so r y role; a nd
WHE REAS , City Council desi r es t o extend its term to December
31, 1983;

CITY OF ENG LE.WOOD , COLORADO :

Review Corrcnission composed of five pe rsons , fo ur of

fo r a term expi ri ng December 31, 1983 , at which time
Counc il shall review the merits of the Commiss i on.
Section 2. All terms of the c urre nt a nd futJre appoint ed members
o f the 11 Co urt Adviso ry Cmrm i ttee" are e xtended to IRcembe r 31 ,
1983 .
Sec tion 3. All other provisions of Resolution No . 48 , Ser i es of
1981, and Reso lut i on No . 12 , St ri es of 190 2 , a re hereby continued
i n the ir a pproved fo rm until December 31 , 1983 .

SUBJECT: Court Advisory Committee
Wi th this memora ndum, I a m transmitting recommendations address ed
t o the Mayor and Members of Council from the Court Advisory Com-
mi ttee which has com e from the Committee's 1982 term.
The Commission desires a study session with Counc il to discuss the
recommendat ion s as soon as possible as the Commission's term ·ex-
pires Decemb e r 31, 19 82 and a s part of their recommendat ions, th e y
wan t to cont inue thr ough 1983.

Dur ~:.g the 1982 t erm, the l.Ommittee interviewed of f i t'i nls
t ro w t he City At to rneys Of f ice , Municipal Co urt, City Managers
Office, Fina nce Department, City Council and the Englewood
Police Department. Overall, the problems associated with the
Englewoo d Mun icipal Co ur t a re c har acterized by the co mm ittee
as pe rsonali t y conflic ts and l ack of communica t ion between the
Municipal Court and other Cit y entities,
The Co urt Ad v isory Commit t ee recomme nds the f ollowing items
be a ccom plis hed i n 1983 ;
1 . The Cour t Advi so ry Co aunit tee be continued fo r
the 198 3 term, The collllllittee shoul d consist of
the full f ive member s .
2. Es t ablish quar t e rl y liaison mee tings between
t he Municipa l Cou r t, Ci ty Attorney , City
Manage r an d the Pol i ce De pa rtme nt,
3. The Hucicipal Court should publish "Rules of
the Court\' to be available to all persons
responsible to the rule s.
4. The City Attorneys Office should publish
selected sections of the Municipal Code and
Municipal Traffic Code, This publication
would be in hand-book form and distributed
to all enforcement officers in the field.
The co mm ittee appreciated Lhe opportuntity to serve in 1982.

from the Finance Director and Staff ,
