A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE TRANSFER OF FEDERAL FUNDING FROM
THE PROPOSED INTERSTATE 470 DEVELOPMENT TO THE USE FOR MASS
TRAN S IT SVSTrM~.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO:
Section 1.
The City Council of the City of Englewood is on
record as favoring construction of I-470, but finds that the
Federal funds should not be lost to the region.
Section 2.
In the event it is determined by authorities
responsible for the development and commitment of Federal
funds for Interstate 470 that said development and commitment
of Federal funds will not be approved, then, in that event,
the City Council supports the proposition that all efforts
should be made to transfer the Federal funds to the development
and implementation of mass transit systems for the Greater
Denver Metropolitan Area.
Section 3.
The City Council encourages all other municipalities
affected by both the proposed development of Interstate 470
and the development of mass transit systems, to support the
transfer of said Federal funds in the event the development
and commitment of Federal funds for Interstate 470 is terminated.
Section 4.
The City Council of the City of Englewood urges that
in the event of the transfer of funds, that those funds and the
then uncommitted Highway Trust Funds be used to construct
alternate means of travel which in addition to mass transit,
would include the Santa Fe Drive and U.S. 285 corridor.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 16th day of June, 1975 .
