RESOLlll'ION FOR COOPERATION B~'TWEEN THE CITIES OF ENGLEWOOD AND LITTLETON FOR DEALING WITH
A COfM)N SEWAGE TREATMENT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Cities of Englewood and Littleton have experienced considerable growth and,
therefore, the need for expansion to their sewage treatment plants has arisen; and
WtlEllliAS, the two cities have long recognized this continuing problem and have attempted
to arrive at a solution through commissioning studies of their individual systems; and
Wtl l:!Ht:AS , the Uenver Regional Co uncil o f Goverrunents has also studied the problem of sewage
treatment in the South Denver metropolitan area and has encouraged cooperation among the various
cities and sewage districts; and
WllEREAS , on May 23 , 1 9 7 2 , the City Councils of Englewood and Littleton met in an informal
session to discuss their corranon concerns on the matter of sewage treatment; and
WHEREAS, it is c o mmonly bel ieved that the two cities could effect large economies through
a joint effort; and
WHEREAS, Englewood is in the process of acquiring the necessary land to provide for a large
treatment facility; and

operation might be the most beneficial to the citizens of both cities as well as those living out-
side the boundaries of Littleton and Englewood who are within the drainage system currently served
by both plants ;
~. THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED, that both Englewood and Littleton will continue to operate
the ir own plants and t h at Littleton wil l inwncdiatcly begin to plan a trunk sewer connection to the
Englewood sewer system whi ch will all ow a bypass o f t he Littleton plant at such time as said facility
has reached its maximum capacity of approximately 5.5 million gallons per day, and
BE IT FURI'HER RESOLVED, that a j oint committee composed of representatives of both cities
be appointed to develop .the method and structure of operations, said committee to work toward
effecting a plan to implement this concept; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that simultaneously with the planning of a trunk sewer extension the two cities
will begin to enginee r the necessary additional sewage plant capacity which both communities will
require in the near future with such additional plant to be built at the Englewood sewage treatment site.
