SPECIAL ELECTION

Should there be adopted an ordinance authorizing the acquisition of
The Englewood-Littleton-Ft. Logan Bus line?
THE ISSUE: Englewood's anticipated cost would be approximately $71,000. This
would provide for the purchase of three buses, and the purchase o f
Public Utilities (PUC) Permit No. 50 from Mr. Herbertson. (The
$71,000 would provide $5,000 for the purchase of the permit, and
$66,000 for three additional buses. The City will also try to
get a grant of $44,000 from the u. s. Department of Transportation
to assist in the purchase of the buses. If the grant is approved,
Englewood's share will be $11,000. Englewood and Littleton will
share capital and operating expenses of the buses on a 50/50 basis •
The ordinance allows the City to enter into contract agreements
with Littleton or other local governments and with any transportation
authorities for aid in buying, replacing or maintaining the buses.
QUESTION : Who can vote?
ANSWER: Only qualified tax-paying electors in Englewood can vote on
Question #1. If a person voted in the last general election, they
are registered to vote in this special election.
QUESTION: Where will the polling places be?
ANSWER : There will be a polling place in each precinct.
ADVANTAGES OF "YES" VOTE?
1. It would mean the bus line would continue to operate.
2. We would replace the present buses, which may enable better
s ervice and mayb e an extension of service.
3 . Would there be : Increased service?

QUESTIO N: What will happen if it is not approved?
A.'l\ISWER: If the voters do not approve the acquisition of the bus line v
Mr. Herbertson will discontinue operation.
Also, .if the voters turn down the issue, the City Council may be
hard pressed to continue the subsidy of the bus line while it does rux_.
QUESTION: Who could benefit from the continuation of the bus line?
ANSWER: Retired Citizens .
