People’s Ordinances
City of Englewood
Home Rule Charter
Section 42. Disposition
A true copy of every ordinance, as adopted by Council, shall be numbered and recorded
and adoption and publication shall be authenticated by the signature of the Mayor and the
City Clerk, and by the certificate of publication. A true copy of every ordinance as
adopted by the vote of the qualified electors of the City shall be separately numbered and
recorded commencing with “Peoples” Ordinance No. 1.
NOTE: Very few ordinances were ever designated as “People’s Ordinances” per this
section of the Charter. Other ordinances (and sometimes resolutions) deemed “People’s
Ordinances” were given regular numbering and included with the rest of the Series of that
particular year. Some of the nomenclature within these records was added based on
records of that election year and is not official within the City of Englewood.
