Committee starts campaign for new community center
Members of Citizens for the Englewood
Community Ce nter have started an organized
campaign to build public support for a pro-
posed $4 .68 bond issue to build the facility .
Residents will vote on the pro posal May 17 .
Chairman Bob Brundage and Vice
Chairmen Jim Taylor and Don Fullerton said
several subcommittees have been estab-
lished to assure all residents are fully in-
formed of the advantages of building the
center .
f he committee was hampered some-
what by the fact that negotiations for the

vice on the bond is sue . The city, however,
would be a ble to use other revenue -sales

pay the bill .
"If the community center issue receives
a favorable vote on May 17, the city is
prepared to back the bonds with a 3 mill levy
increas~ which would mean. for example,
that property taxes on a home in Englewood
with a retail market value of $50 ,000 would
increase approximately SU>-4 per month,"

·•rt is apparent that building sites in
Englewood are becoming non-existent and it
is time that the citizens act now if Englewood
is to ever have a community center," he said .
FULLERTON AND FORMER Mayor
Taylor emphasized the need .
"Englewood citizens can be proud of
their city services such as police, fire and
streets. but we are still lacking one very
important service that nearly every othe r
community has -a community center for
the people ." Taylor said .

Louisville. Broomfield. Boulder and Sheridan
can afford a community center , and in som e
