The meeting recessed at 6:02 p.m. for a brief reception in the atrium. The meeting reconvened at 6:45 p.m. with all council members present. 6 Appointments, Communications, Proclamations, and Recognition a) A reception was held in the atrium for outgoing and newly elected Council Members. b) City Council recognition and swearing-in. The Mayor asked the City Clerk to announce the status of the election. There were comments and recognition of families and guests by the departing members of the City Council. The newly-elected Council Member District 1 Othoniel Sierra, Council Member District 3 Joe Anderson, Council Member At Large Rita Russell, and Council Member At Large Tena Prange, and Council Member At Large Two-Year Term Kim Wright. City Council Members were sworn in by the Honorable Judge Charlton. Members of City Council were seated (in temporary spaces) and the Mayor asked the City Clerk to call the roll of City Council Members. Member Anderson nominated current Mayor Othoniel Sierra for the position of Mayor. Member Wright nominated Member Russell for the position of Mayor. The new Mayor assumed the Chair and called for nominations for Mayor Pro Tem. Member Ward nominated Member Anderson for the position of Mayor Pro Tem. Member Wright nominated Member Russell for the position of Mayor Pro Tem.
