BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF COLORADO
WEEK
JULY 23 THROUGH JULY 27, 2018
WHEREAS, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado has been providing children facing
adversity with strong, enduring and professionally supported one-to-one relationships
that change their lives for the better since 1918; and
WHEREAS, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado's unique approach to each
relationship requires professional training, guidance and support to help our "Bigs"
inspire real social, emotional and academic growth in their "Littles"; and
WHEREAS, This change is measured through the Youth Outcomes Survey, a tool
that was developed and adopted by the national organization, along with industry
leaders, to measure real-time measure effectiveness of the programs; and
WHEREAS, The results of the survey substantiate that Big Brothers Big Sisters'
mentoring programs have proven, positive academic, socio-emotional and behavioral
outcomes for youth in areas linked to high school graduation, avoidance of juvenile
delinquency, and college or job readiness; and
WHEREAS, Our youth hold America's future in their hands and Big Brothers Big
Sisters of Colorado is leading the way. In 2018, the organization will support more than
2,000 mentoring relationships with Bigs and Littles matched; and
WHEREAS, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado is calling on all Coloradans to
support them in expanding their one-to-one mentoring model that creates powerful life
changing relationships for the "Littles" and "Bigs," as well as allows all children to have
an opportunity to achieve success in life.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Linda Olson, Mayor of the City of Englewood, Colorado,
hereby proclaim July 23 through July 27, 2018 as:
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado Week
in the City of Englewood, Colorado.
