HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989 Resolution No. 062RESOLUTION NO, 6.;;, SERIES OF 1989 14 (b) (1) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD STATING SUPPORT FOR E-911 SERVICE IN THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD AND THROUGHOUT ARAPAHOE COUNTY. WHERE\S, in 1987 the City of Englewood established by ordinance its approval of the Emergency Telephone Service Authority, and since that time, it has confirmed its support for the said Authority , most recently by Ordinance No. 19, Series of 1988; and WHEREAS, the E-911 program offers significant benefits to the citizens of Englewood in the form of a fas t er, more accurate, and more informative communication system; and WHEREAS, Englewood may pay a surplus to fund E-911 capital equipment; and WHEREAS, Englewood has a large percentage of the total number of lines and residents being serviced by the E-911 system; and WHEREAS, the implementation of the E-911 system has been inappropriately delayed within Arapahoe County; and WHEREAS, the Emergency Telephone Service Authority is a separate legal entity composed of governmental entities that have approved the Intergovernmental Agreement creating the Emergency Telephone Service Authority, and, pursuant to said Agreement, the Board of Directors shall govern the business and affairs of the Authority and exercise all powers of the Authority as described in said Intergovernmental Agreement; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO: 1. That the Emergency Telephone Service Authority and Arapahoe Count y are encouraged to implement the E·-911 program as soon as possible. 2. That the E-911 program be implemented utilizing funds generated by each comunity•s line charges as presently assessed, 3. That a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) be established within the boundaries of the City of Englewood. 4. That "PSAPs" be provided to each participating agency as most recently recommended by the Authority, notwithstanding the fee amounts generated by each agency's current l ine charge.
