A RESOLUTION APPROVING A BENEFITS PI.>.N SYSTEM FOR CONFIDENTIAL
AND SECRETA.~IAL EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD FOR THE YEAR
1990.
h:-'.EREAS, by Charter amenc~ent effective April 13, 1981, city
council providej fer the establishment of confidential and
secretarial emp:o~•ees within t h e service of the City of
Engl e\JOOd; and
~iiEREAS, by virtue of duties assigned to these positions by
the Ci ty Manager, it has been detennined that they are
confidential anj are therefore excluded from membership,
part i c i pati on , or representation in any col l ectively bargained
employee system or Career Service system of the City of
Engle·.ood; and
WHEREAS, under the Compensation and Benefits Plan for
confident i al and secretarial employees of the City, City Council
desires to establish the premium costs for health and dental
insurance coverage for the year 1990;

Section l , The City will pay 85% per month of the prem i um
cost !or depende.nt and single coverage. Employees will pay 15%
of the monthly premium cost for single and dependent coverage.
The costs to be paid by said employees for health and dental
insu ::-ance cov erage shall be as follo-.s:
City Self-Funded -Medica l -
$23 .10 per i:,onth to..,ard total single coverage.
$6 8 , 4 0 per month toward total dependent coverage.

STAFF ANALYSIS
In accordance with Council 's policy di r ective to establish health and dental rates
which wi 11 pre vent negative balances in each p 1 an , the rates have been projected to
me et or exce ed expen ditu r es in each plan . The surplus in the City Medical Plan and
Dent al Pl an will need to be transferred to a reserve account to help meet our
re quired res erve s .
BACKGROUND
The City of Englewood , by Charter Amendment, provided for the establishment of
manage ri al and confidential employees . These employees are excluded fr om
re prese nt ati on i n any co 11 ect i ve l y bargained system or th e ~aree r Serv i ce system.
The Council , therefore, approved , by resolution, a Compensation and Benefits Plan
fo r these employees . Changes to benefits under the pl ans mu st be made by separate
re solutions for each group.
Proposed Resolutions include :
I. A Resolution for a Benefits Plan for General Serv i ce Managerial and Supervisory
employees. The resolut i on provides for the premium costs for single and
dependent medical and denta 1 insurance coverage.
2. A Resolution for a Benefits Phn for Managerial and Supervisory employees of
the Po 11 ce Department. The Reso l ut 1 on provides for the prem1 um costs for
single and dependent med1 cal and dental insurance coverage.
3. A Resolution for :, Benefits Plan for Manager i al and Supervisory employees of
the Fire Department. The Resolution provides for the premium costs for s i ngle
and dependent medical and dental insurance co verage .
4 . A Re solution for a Benefits Plan for Confidential employees . The Resolut i on
provide s for the prem i um cost s for single and dependent medic;,l and dental
insurance coverage .
5 . A Resolution for a Benefits Plan for Permanent, Part-Time employees. The
Resolution provides for the prem i um costs for single and dependent medical and
dental i nsurance coverage .
Benefit plans for the collective bargaining groups are covered under separate
contract agreements .
