RESOLUTION NO.
SERIES OF 1989
A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE CITY I S CONTINUING CONCERN FOR EARLY
COMPLETION OF MASS TRANSIT FACILITIES ALONG THE SANTA FE CORRIDOR.
WHEREAS, the Santa Fe t ~ansportation corridor is a sig-
nificant factor in the environmental and economic climate of the
City of Englewood, and
WHEREAS, the Santa Fe highway serves thousands of commuters
on a daily basis traveling toward Denver from the Southwest Metro
area, and
WHEREAS, the establishment and operation of a light rail
transit system should provide some relief to the environmentally
damaging effects of continued high use, of automobil a s for daili
commuting, and
WHEREAS, the Regional Transportation District and the Metro-
politan Transportation Development commission are each currently
evaluating alternatives for improvements in the metropolitan
transportation system,
NO W, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO, that the City Council restates its
commitment to the early completion of Santa Fe corridor transpor-
tation improvement s , and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Reg ~onal Transportation Dis-
trict and the Metropolitan Transportation Development commission
a~e encouraged to work together for the benefit of the region's
transportation needs and are also encouraged to maintain as a high
priority the near term improvements so vitally needed along the
Santa Fe corridor .
