AND ALTERNATIVES IDENTIFIED Applications for Federal Tmneportation Funds are solicned by the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) ev,;ry two years . Th is years applications request funding for years 2001·2006 . Proj'3cts must implement the improvements contained in the 2020 Regional Transportation Plan and meet the spe ci fic eligibility requirements for the funding category requested . Projects require local matching funds of 20%. DRCOG , in cooperation with the Colorado Department of Transpo rtation (COOT), is charued with ":he preparation of the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The TIP prioritizes regional projects for Federal Transportation Funds available through the Trans?0rt&tion Equity Act for the 21 ~ Gentury (TEA-21). TEA -21 replaced the lntermodel Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA). These four projects were applied for in the previous TIP cycle for 1999-2004. DRCOG scored all four of these projects just below the cut-off for funding . Recently, DRCOG and COOT have proposed an amendment to the TIP recommending funding for the two sidewal k projects In 200:J-2004 . DRCOG requires a resubmittal fe r the projects 10 reaffirm our local matching funds .
