ALLIANCE FOR COMMERCE IN ENGLEWOOD COMMITTEE
City Council Conference Room
September 11, 2014
I. CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Alliance for Commerce in Englewood Committee (ACE) was
called to order at 11 :30 a.m . in the City Council Conference Room of the Englewood
Civic Center, Chair Knoth presiding.
Present: Knoth , Weinberger, Whyte, Farris , Vigliano
Absent: Miller (Unexcused), Michels (Unexcused), Sedbrook (Excused)
Also present: Joe Jefferson, City Counci I Liaison
Colleen Mello, Englewood Chamber of Commerce
Staff present: Darren Hollingsworth, Economic Deve lopment Manage r
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
July 17, 2014
Chair Knoth stated th at the Minute~ of July 17, 2014 were to be co nsidered for approval. It
was determined there was a quorum. Chair Knoth asked if there were any changes or
adjustments to the Minutes. There were none.
Weinberger moved;
Whyte seconded: THE MINUTES OF JULY 17, 2014 BE APPROVED AS WRITTEN.
The minutes were unanimously approved by the Committee.
The motion carried.
II. ACE BUSINESS
Election of Officers
Farris moved ;
Weinberger seconded: To elect Jason Whyte as Chair of the Committee
The Committee voted unanimously to elect Jason Wh yte as Chair of the Alliance for
Commerce in Englewood.

Recommendations for Council Consideration

manner as Denver h as id e ntifi ed its various ne ig hbor hoo ds wo u Id estab li sh a sense of
id ent ity for the a rea . The Co mmunity D eve lopm en t Department staff wi ll supp ly a map
and list of subdivision nam es and boundaries.
The id ea of sponso rin g a mentor program that would pair experienced business leaders
w ith yo un ge r, less expe rien ced members of the comm unity was suggested.
A survey of businesses in En g lewood wo uld provide information that wou ld be helpful to
both the ACE Committee a nd City Council. Dis c u ss ion ensued regarding the merits of
hirin g a professional cons ultan t to cond uct a survey. Co un c ilm an Jefferson encouraged
the Committee to exp lore the idea in more detail. Members of the C hamber of Commerce
co ul d a lso be invol ved in garne rin g feedback from the bus in ess commun ity.
It was determ in ed that the Comm ittee needs to develop an implementation p lan in o rder
to present a viable opt ion to City Council. The Committee members agreed that
developing the ne ighb o rho od m ap will be the priority. Gateway signs and p l ace markers
we re discussed.

Louis Fow ler, Englewood res id e nt, addressed the comm ittee regarding advert i sin g the ACE
act ivit ies . Hi s opinion is that ACE sho uld seek as much public input as possib le sho ul d
they pursue the id ea of as si gn in g names to are as of Englewood.
IV. COMMENTS

The Breasts of Colorado Event w ill be he ld Octob e r 2nd in the Community Room to benefit
Sense of Security. The Service Club Luncheon wi ll be at the end of October and p l ans are
under way fo r the H o lid ay Party wh ic h will be held in November .
