CALL TO ORDER !tl) The regu lar meeting of the City Planning and Zoning Commission was called to order at 7:05 p.m. in the City Counci l Conference Room of the Englewood Civic Center, Chair Knoth presiding. Present: Absent: Staff: Bleile, Roth, King, Welker, Knoth, Fish, Brick, Kinton, Townley (ente red 7:09) None Alan Wh ite, Community D eve lopment Director Tricia Langon, Senior Planner Nancy Reid , Assistant City Attorney Jerrell Black, Director of Parks and Recreation Joe Sack, Recreation Manager, Parks and Recreation II. DUNCAN PARK REDEVELOPMENT UPDATE ~ Mr. Black provided an overview of the Duncan Park redevelopment project. Mr. Sack presented a slide show showing the design of the proposed park. Cost of the park is just under $1 .2 million and completion is set for 2014. The Commission thanked them for their presentation. At this time Mr. Black and Mr. Sack exited the meeting. IV. ELECTION OF OFFICERS ~ Welker moved: Bleile seconded: TO NOMINATE MR. BRICK FOR CHAIR AND MR. FISH FOR VICE CHAIR AYES: NAYS: ABSTAIN: ABSENT: Bleile, Roth, Welker, Knoth, Fish, King, Kinton, Brick, Townley None None None Motion carried. V. STUDY SESSION ~ SIGN CODE AMENDMENTS Ms. Langon reviewed the timeline for the Sign Code Amendments. The Recording Secretary distributed a Draft Amendment Summary by Topic on the Englewood Sign Code to all in attendance. Ms. Langon revi ewed the following topics: > Deleted Material > Definitions > Incid ental Signs Allowed Without Sign Permit > Prohibited Signs > Nonconforming Signs > Illumination > Visibility > Rules of Measurement and Computation > Sign Bonuses > Principal Signs > Electronic Message Display Signs > Accessory Signs > Signs in the Public Right-of-Way > Human Signs > Wall Murals .. • • • Planning and Zoning Commission Study Session Case #2009-05, Sign Code Amendments, Dun can Park Red evelopmen t Update April 17 , 2012 Page 3 of3 The Comm ission ers provided comments throughout the discussion. Ms. Langon said for the next two meetings she will be asking the Commission to look through the Code itself for snags and for a consensus prior to going to Public Hearing. She noted the presentation was given to City Council On April gth and they were pleased with the direction . Mr. Bleile noted the presentation was very well done and thanked Staff. VI. PUBLIC FORUM I?] There was no public present. VII. ATTORNEY'S CHOICE I?] Mr. King asked Ms. Reid to provide a brief summary of what happened at the City Council Medical District Sub-areas 2 and 3 Public Hearing that took place on April 16 11i. Ms. Reid and Director White provided the update. VII. STAFF'S CHOICE l?ll Ms. Langon stated the two meetings in May will be to review the Public Draft of the Amendments . The Amendments are scheduled to go to a Planning and Zoning Public Hearing on June 5, 2012. VIII. COMMISSIONER'S CHOICE [lJ Mr. Fish stated he would not be available for meetings from May 18 11i to June 1011i. Mr. Knoth thanked the members for allowing him to be Chair these past two years. He stated he will not be at the May 22"d meeting. Mr. Bleile wished the new Chair and Vice Chair good luck. The meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m .
