CALL TO ORDER C?] The regular meeting of the City Planning and Zoning Commission was ca lled to order at 7:05 p.m. in the Community Development Conference Room of th e Englewood Civic Center, Chair Knoth presiding. STUDY SESSION [?] SIGN CODE AMENDMENTS Ms. Langon distributed pictures of various types of signs. The Commission reviewed and commented on the draft of Table 16-6-13.XX Permitted Principal Signs and Table 16-6- 13.XX Zone District Principal Sign Standards. Discussion points included: • Permanent and temporary signs will now be known as principal and accessory signs. • Remove roof and roof mansard from Permitted Principal Sign Types in the R- 1-A, R-1-B, R-1-C, R-2-A, R-2-B, MU-R-3-A, MU-R-3-B , M-1, M-2 and M0-2 zone districts. • Remove roof from Permitted Principal Sign Types in the MU-B-1, MU-B-2 , 1-1 and 1-2 zone districts. • In MU-B-1, MU-B-2, 1-1 and 1-2 zone districts keep the allowed number of signs as is and increase allowed area (numb er to be determined). • In MU-R-3-A and MU-R-3-B Multi-unit Residential (5 or more units ) the allowed number be based on linear street frontage (number to b e determined). • In "All other allowed" category of MU-R-3-A and MU-R-3-B the allowed ar ea be discussed further at a future meeting. • illumination/ Animation and High-rise Building Id entification to be discussed at a future meetings. The sign code amendments discussion will contin u e in February. IV. PUBLIC FORUM t?l1 There was no public present. V. ATTORNEY'S CHOICE ~ This was Mr. Calonder's last meeting. Ms. Reid thanked him for his dedicated service and sa id she was sorry to see him go. VI. STAFF'S CHOICE t?l1 Ms. Langon thanked Mr. Calonder for his service on the Commission . Future Meetings: February 7: Sign Code Amendments February 22: Sign Code Amendments • • • Planning and Zoning Commission Study Session or Public Hearing Case #2009-05 Sign Code Amendments January 18 , 20 12 Page 3 of 3 Ms. Langon stated City Council will be doing Board and Commission appointments in the near future. She noted Mr. King and Mr. Knoth have been reappointed and Mr. Harbaugh has stated he would like to move up into a voting member position . Election of Planning and Zoni ng Commission officers will be held at the February 22 11 d meeting. There was a request for National Historic Preservation comments regarding antennas on a water tower on S. Sherman Street. Staff reported the antennas would not impact any historic properties. She provided an update on the University Homes PUD Amendment, Kent Place, the old Sally's site and the Martin Plastics property. Director White stated City Council has given Staff direction to move forward with creating new zoning regulations for Sub-area 2 and Sub-area 3 of the Medical District. Counci l directed Staff to begin working with the City Attorney's office to prepare those Ordinances and bring them forward. He also thanked Mr. Calonder for his years of service. VII. COMMISSIONER'S CHOICE IM Mr. Harbaugh asked about the use of Englewood as a mailing address for properties outside the Englewood City boundaries. It was noted that was due to the post office assign in g Englewood as a mailing address years ago. Mr. King, Mr. Brick and Mr. Roth thanked Mr. Calonder for his serv ic e and stated it has been a pleasure working with him. Mr. Calonder said thank you to all. The meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m .
