BRIAN EWERT, SUPERINTENDENT OF ENGLEWOOD PUBLIC SCHOOLS [1] Mr. Ewert addressed the Commission regarding the proposed bond issue. He present ed a PowerPoint slid es how. Money to be used for renovation of Englewood Middle School. • Discussed potential impact of a bond/mill levy increase to the local taxpayer. • Viewed architect's drawing of what a combined middle and high school might look lik e. IV. PUBLIC HEARING CASE #2009-04 Medical Marijuana Amendments Roth moved: Bleile seconded: TO OPEN THE PUBLIC HEARING AYES : NAYS: ABSTAIN: ABSENT: Bleile, Roth, Welker, Knoth, King, Brick, Calonder None None Fish, Krieger Motion carried. Ms. Kirk, Englewood City Planner I, was sworn in. She distributed two different distancing maps; one dated November 2010 and the other dated March of 2011. She provided background information on Medical Marijuana and reviewed the proposed amendments. Director White was swo rn in. He stated th e spacing requir ements are proposed to be included in Title 5, which is where all the business and liquor li censing is. The State regulations are patterned after the liquor licensing. There was no public in attendance to testify . AMENDMENTS TO TITLE 16: UN IFIED DEVELOPMENT CODE OF THE ENGLEWOOD MUNICIPAL CODE RELATED TO MEDICAL MARIJUANA BE RECOMMENDED AS PRESENTED FOR APPROVAL TO CITY COUNCIL WITH A FAVORABLE RECOMME NDATIO N FOR ADOPTION. ~ Conclusion: • Th e Amendme nts provide for the h ea lth and we lfar e of persons who need m edica l marijuana for pain and other medical issues while at th e sa m e time look in g after the safety and genera l welfare of th e community at lar ge by p lac in g the medical marijuana ce nte rs strategically to avo id prob lems with sensitive areas in Eng l ewood . • The A mendm ents reflect the discussions the Planning and Zoni n g Comm ission has had over th e past co upl e of yea rs . • The Amendments work for the co mmunity; m edi ca l mariju a na u ses a re all owed with reasonable res tri ctions . • Commission supports th e more strict sp ac in g req uirem ents und e r Title 5 . ATIORNEY 'S CHOICE ~ Ms. Reid had nothing further to repo rt. IX. COMMISSIONER 'S CHOICE ~ Mr. Roth noted there was an interesting article regarding billboard s in th e las t issue of the Planning Co mmiss ion ers Journal . He suggested all commissioners read th e articl e. Chair Knoth asked if food carts were all owed in the City. Ms. Kirk provided th e regu lations. The Commissioners asked about Ms. Krieger as she has missed severa l m eet ings . They sa id their thoughts are with h e r. Several Commissioners stated the n ew format of the m i nutes was more inform ati ve ove r th e ones two weeks ago. Th e m ee ting adjourned at 8:12 p.m . ~,~
