There were none. AYES: NAYS: ABSTAIN: ABSENT: Bleile, Roth, Welker, Krieger, Knoth, Fish, King, Brick None None Calonder Motion carried. Ill. LANDSCAPE AMENDMENTS ~ Mr. Bell briefly reviewed what was discussed at the last lands cape amendments meeting. He stated he had created a table using the Commission's feedback. The Commission reviewed and commented on the four page table. Ms. Krieger said the first chart ent itl ed "Landscap ing Requirements for Off-street Parking Lots" looked good . Mr. Welker said he would like to see the words "at maturity" added to the height of shrubs for clarity. Also he would like to see the size of the shrub that is required, such as five gallon. The size of islands in interior of parking lots was discussed . The next table discussed was Screening Requirements. Mr. Bell also presented a slideshow of var ious screening examp les. Fencing maintenance issues were discussed . Mr. Welker noted fencing acts as a safety barrier too. Mr. Bell said commercial and industrial enterprises tend to want to do a fence rather than landscape which requires more upkeep. Mr. Fish noted in the multi-unit section the "less than " shou ld be three units, not four. In the footnotes it was suggested to add "at the time of development" to the first sentence . Staff wi ll work on the wording. Mr. Bell said the category "Ind ustri al Use and Residential Use" may need to be expanded or a new category created for things such as parks, schools, churches, libraries, and government buildings. Mr. Welker asked about cell towers. Mr. Bell said those are Conditional Uses where screening requirements c_ould be imposed. The next chart discussed was Screening of Uti liti es, Loading Areas, Outdoor Storage, Storage Yards, and Trash Collection/Compaction Areas. Mr. Bell noted he did not create a new table for this category; he updated the c urrent table. Aft er discussion it was de t e rmin ed that a better defin iti on of utiliti es 1s needed. Fence height was also disc uss ed. The landscape amendment discussion w ill continu e at a f uture date. Mr. Penn ex ited the meeting at 8:40. IV. PUBLIC FORUM !!] There was no pub li c present. V . DIRECTOR'S CHOICE ~ Director White was not p resent. VI. STAFF'S CHOICE ~ Future Meetings: Sign Code Amendments/Medical District Stakeholder Meetings Update Landscape Amendments On Apri l 26th Staff wi ll be attend in g the City Counc il Study Sess ion and taking a number of topics for po licy direction . Those areas are under banners, murals, the South Broadway sign area, signs in the Right-of-way, temporary sign s and new technology signs. Ms. Langon said she wou ld like to start meeting in the Ci t y Council Conference Room as it is a larger room. Staff wi ll check avai labi lity for the remainder of the year. VII. ATTORNEY'S CHOICE ~ Ms . Reid had nothing furthe~ to report. VIII. COMMISSIONER'S CHOICE ltl) Mr. Brick said sometim e in the future he wou ld like to see the Commission bra in storm ways to better inform the public. Mr. Roth noted the new auto parts store has begun constr u ction at Broadway and Eastman . • • • .. Langon . H e noted that is a concern that is frequentl y brought up when new projects co me in . Ms. Langon informed th e Commission that if they have articles/information to share to pl ease send th e information to staff and staff will forward on to the memb e rs to b e discussed at a meeting.
