I. CALL TO ORDER

The reg ul ar meeting of the C ity Planning and Zoni n g Commiss ion was ca ll ed to order at
7:03 p.m . in the Community Deve lopment Conference Room of the Eng lewood Civic
Center, Vice Cha i r Knoth presiding.
Present: Roth, Welker, Krieger, Knoth, Brick
Absent: Fish, Calonder, Bleile, King, Ki nt on (a lternate)
Staff: Tricia Langon, Senior Planner
II . APPROVAL OF MINUTES
January 5, 2010

Ill. SIGN CODE AMENDMENTS
~ Ms. Langon reviewed slides of d ifferent types of signs that were presented at the last
meeting and the proposed definition of "sign " that the Commission discussed . She said she
is work i ng under the tact that everything is a sign and all signs wi ll either be:
1. Prohibited ;
2 . Exempt; or
3. Regulated (Permitted) .

She informed the Commission they will not be discussing signs in the right-of-way at
tonight's meeting.
She then presented a slide show of various types of signs ; she noted none of the photos
were taken in the City of Englewood .

Discussion ensued as to which of the three c ategories each of the signs could fall into. The

who were unable to attend tonight's meeting. The Sign Code Amendments discussion will
continue in March .

VIII. COMMISSIONER'S CHOICE
l?lJ Mr. Knoth commented on the enforcement of the temporary sign code regulations .
Mr. Welker said there isn 't much the Planning and Zoning Commission can do other than
try to establish things that are enforceable and that either go through some kind of a
preliminary review for a permit to be issued for temporary signs, write limits on exempt
signs and enforce the remainder.
The meeting adjourned at 9:05 p .m .
