HomeMy WebLinkAbout1966-06-28 EC MINUTES• • MINUTES OF ELECTION COMMISSION MEETING JUNE 28, 1966 The City of Englewood Election Commission met at 12:15 P.M., June 28, 1966, at the Hackney House Restaurant in Englewood, Colorado, ~Presefit ·were Mr. Stephen A. Lyon, City Clerk, Mr. Harry Fleenor and Mrs. Dorothy Romer. Also present were Mr. Terry Paup, Assistant City Attorney and Mr. Leo Barron, Deputy City Clerk. A resolution giving Mr. Lyon authority to act for and on behalf of the Election Commission was introduced and passed unanimously. (Copy of said resolution is attached hereto.) The special election of September 13, 1966, was discussed, It was reported that a conference had been held with Mrs. Marjorie Page, County Clerk. From this conference it was learned that the questions to be acted upon by the voters could be placed on voting machines. This will eliminate the necessity of appointing separate election judges and clerkE,in all but five precincts whose boundaries include area not within the City. By appointing the same election judges and clerks in the majority of precincts, election expense to the City will be substantially reduced. The wording of the questions to be placed on the ballot was discussed. After discussion the matter was tabled for consideration at a future meeting. It was requested that Mr. Paup provide a legal opinion on the authority of the Election Commission to determine the wording of the questions to be placed on the ballot.
