HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-10-10 EC MINUTES• ELECTION COMMISS I ON CI TY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO OCTOBER 10, 1968 The Election Commission of the City of Englewood, Arapahoe County, Colorado, met at 12:00 P.M. at the Hackney House, Englewood, Colorado. Present : Mr. William Hanson Mr. Stephen A. Lyon, Chairman Absent : Mr. Harry Fleenor Mr . Lyon reported that it would be necessary for the City of Englewood to conduct absentee balloting on the November 5th Special Election separate and apart from the absentee balloting conducted by Arapahoe County. In order to insure that an individual could not vote absentee on the Special Election of November 5th and then vote in his regular precinct on November 5th, the following rulings were adopted: 1. All application for absentee ballots shall be received by the City of Englewood. 2. Before any absentee ballots shall be counted it shall be the duty of the Chairman of the Election Commission to varif y that the individual casting the absentee ballot is registered and has cast or will cast an absentee ballot in the November 5th General Election. Mr. Lyon reported that in the eight county precincts which have registered voters who do not reside within the City of Englewood and are not eligible to vote on the November 5th Special Election, it will be necessary to use paper ballots. To facilitate a smooth election in these precincts the following rules were adopted: 1. That Sections 49-9-2 and 49-12-10 of the Primary and General Election Laws of the State of Colorado, authorizing the appointment of counting judges in paper balloting precincts, are adopted. 2 . Paymen t to counting judges shall be $15 per judge. 3. The counting judges shall be vested with the responsi- bility of returning the paper ballot boxes, paper ballots, and other election supplies to the City of Englewood. Mr. Lyon reported that in Precinct 215 which is partly in the City of Englewood and partly in Arapahoe County there are no residents of t he Ci t y of Englewood. Upon recommendation the following ruling was adopted : 1. Due to the fact that there are no residents within the City of Englewood in County Electi on Precinct No. 215, no paper ballots, ballot boxes, or o t her items necessary to the City of Englewood's November 5th Special Election shall be required in this preci n ct. -~«~ Stephel1 A .
