ELECTION COMMISS I ON
CI TY OF ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO
OCTOBER 10, 1968
The Election Commission of the City of Englewood, Arapahoe
County, Colorado, met at 12:00 P.M. at the Hackney House, Englewood,
Colorado.
Present : Mr. William Hanson
Mr. Stephen A. Lyon, Chairman
Absent : Mr. Harry Fleenor
Mr . Lyon reported that it would be necessary for the
City of Englewood to conduct absentee balloting on the November 5th
Special Election separate and apart from the absentee balloting
conducted by Arapahoe County. In order to insure that an individual
could not vote absentee on the Special Election of November 5th
and then vote in his regular precinct on November 5th, the following
rulings were adopted:
1. All application for absentee ballots shall be received
by the City of Englewood.
2. Before any absentee ballots shall be counted it shall
be the duty of the Chairman of the Election Commission to varif y
that the individual casting the absentee ballot is registered
and has cast or will cast an absentee ballot in the November 5th
General Election.
Mr. Lyon reported that in the eight county precincts which
have registered voters who do not reside within the City of Englewood
and are not eligible to vote on the November 5th Special Election,
it will be necessary to use paper ballots. To facilitate a smooth
election in these precincts the following rules were adopted:
1. That Sections 49-9-2 and 49-12-10 of the Primary and
General Election Laws of the State of Colorado, authorizing the
appointment of counting judges in paper balloting precincts, are
adopted.
2 . Paymen t to counting judges shall be $15 per judge.
3. The counting judges shall be vested with the responsi-
bility of returning the paper ballot boxes, paper ballots, and
other election supplies to the City of Englewood.
Mr. Lyon reported that in Precinct 215 which is partly
in the City of Englewood and partly in Arapahoe County there are
no residents of t he Ci t y of Englewood. Upon recommendation the
following ruling was adopted :
1. Due to the fact that there are no residents within
the City of Englewood in County Electi on Precinct No. 215, no
paper ballots, ballot boxes, or o t her items necessary to the City
of Englewood's November 5th Special Election shall be required in
this preci n ct.
