The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m.

Discussion ensued regarding election of Chairperson. It was agreed to hold
the election at the next meeting.

The Commission reviewed the list of candidates for the November 8, 1983
General Municipal Election. Eric Johannisson advised the members he had
screened and verified the petition signatures. All candidates had remitted
more than the required number of signatures.

Commission Member Nilsen questioned the legality of a citizen running for a
Council position if he's an employee of another municipality. Mr. Higbee
advised the Board to write to the City Attorney and ask for an opinion as to
the constitutionality of the Charter provision. Mr. Johannisson also raised
the question as to whether a Council Member who is a contractor for another
municipality is considered an employee of that City.

The Commission reviewed the list of polling places. Precincts 1, 2, and 6
have changed since the last city election. At this time the Baptist Seminary
(Precinct 8) is the only one that hasn't remitted their approval.

ELECTION CALENDAR -NOVEMBER 8, 1983
Select polling places and notify of selection.
Absent voter applications may be received from
this date.
Order election supplies; notify County Clerk by
letter of number of machines needed for election;
request list of registered voters to be paid
for by Englewood.
Candidate petitioning packets available from
City Clerk
Nomination petitions required to be filed with
the Clerk not less than 30 days nor circulated
and signed more than 50 days before election day.
Last day to register to vote, change of address,
etc.; keep City Hall open until 7:00 p.m.;
notify paper.
Last day for filing nomination petitions (5:00 p.m.)
Send letters to prospective judges and alternates.
Voter registration to Arapahoe County--hand
carry to County Clerk.
Prepare list of polling places; notify machine
movers of addresses.
Last day for withdrawal from nomination. Must
be in writing.
Order voting machine strips; candidates names and
amendments--candidates names to appear A-Z in even
precincts and Z-A in odd-numbered precincts; order
samples ballots and absentee ballots (Hoeckel's)
Publish in October 26th paper and post notice of
election.
Finalize list of judges and alternates.
Last day for amendment to petitions.
Appoint judges of election and alternates; any
vacancy in nominations to be filled on this date.
Send out certificates.
Campaign "Disclosure Statement" closing date.
Submit campaign "Disclosure Statement" to County Clerk.
