Mr. Higbee was present to introduce the proposed transmittal of voting data on
election night via electronic equipment. He explained how the data would be
entered into the personal computer, then transmitted and projected
electronically to the Council Chambers. Costs were discussed. Mr. Higbee and
Mr. Schafer plan to see some demonstrations of the process and explore
specific costs. That information will be transmitted to the Commission
members for further consideration. It was decided that the manual tally board
will be utilized on election night even if it proves feasible to proceed with
Mr. Higbee's proposal.

The City Clerk invited the Commission members to attend the Judges' Training
Session on October 30, 1987. One session commences at 3:30 p.m. followed by a
session at 5:30 p.m. The new voting machines will be demonstrated at both
sessions.
A report was given on the Election Judges appointments. No problems are
foreseen at this time. There is a pool of approximately 28 Alternates Judges.
The method of reporting absentee voter ballots was discussed. It was agreed
that absentee votes would be reported separately from the precinct votes.
The notice to all registered voters of precincts which had been affected by
the redistricting last May was discussed. Mrs. Crow explained some of the
problems which had resulted from this process and stated that it would have
been more advantageous to send the notice addressed to "Registered Voter at
___ address " instead of using Arapahoe County's labels addressed
to the actual registered voter's name.
