MEMORANDUM
TO: Election Commission
FROM: Pat Crow, City Clerk
DATE: August 29, 1989
SUBJECT: ELECTION STATUS
Enclosed is an article which has been submitted to the City Manager's office
for inclusion in the September/Octob er issue of The Englewood Citizen
concerning the regular election scheduled for November 7th.
On September 1st I will be mailing an inquiry to prospective judges about
their availability on the 7th and am asking them to respond to that inquiry no
later than September 15th. A copy of the letter is enclosed for your
information. After we know who will be available on the 7th, I will send you
a proposed list of judges for electi on day. Judges mus t be appointed by
October 11th and their acceptance must be received by me by October 18th. So
you can see we are moving right along.
Several candidate information packet s have been picked up, and as the enclosed
list indicates two of them have already declared their candidacy. I will keep
you posted as this list changes.
Nomination petitions will be available in the City Clerk's office on September
15th. Everyone picking up petitions will be instructed not to circulate them
before September 18th and to return them before 5:00 p.m. on October 6th.
September 23rd is the first day elec tion signs may be posted.
Applications for absentee voting are available by calling our office, if
anyone sho uld ask .

I am sure you have been reading in th e Sentinel about the employee
associa tions not having reached agree me nt with the City as to wages and
benefi ts. Nothing definite has been issued, but I am of the opinion that in
spite of the employees desiring a Spe c ial Election (separate from the Regular
Electio n) to submit the matter to the citizens for a vote, Council will
determi ne that the question of salary , etc., will be included on the ballot
for the regular election. I'm fairly confident we will not be required to
have a se parate election, which is a relief -at least from my standpoint!
DON'T FORGET TO VOTE ON NOVEMBER 7TH
