TO: Election Commission Members
FROM: Pat Crow, City Clerk
DATE: March 3, 1993
SUBJECT: CITY COUNCIL/ELECTION COMMISSION MEETING
Our meeting with City Council, originally scheduled for
April 5, has been postponed to June 7. As discussed at our
last meeting, we did not believe we would be ready to
present to Council the concept of a centralized/cooperative
election, and should therefore ask for postponement. I do
hope the June 7 date is acceptable to you.
Prior to the June 7 meeting, we hope the Commission can meet
with the City Attorney. That meeting has not been set and
will depend some on the outcome of Arapahoe County's meeting
with municipal clerks on March 18.
In informal discussions with Mr. DeWitt, it does not appear
Englewood will be able to hold its election in complete
conjunction with Arapahoe County; however, we will strive to
conduct a centralized election as required by Amendment No.
1, and cooperate with Arapahoe County's procedure when and
where possible. The real problem lies more with our Charter
restrictions than with the Colorado Municipal Election Code.
I am posing to Mr. DeWitt several questions about the
election. When I have more information, and prior to the
June 7 meeting, we will meet with him to discuss our
options.
Attached are the minutes from our February 19, 1993,
meeting. Lou will call sometime next week for approval of
our minutes. Also, copies of minutes of City Council's
February 16 meeting are enclosed.
