Election Commission ~

CITY PRECINCTS
Our next duty as far as redistricting is concerned is to identify which
County precincts should make up Englewood's precincts for voting
purposes, etc.
Jo and I met recently and reviewed the various County precincts as far
as size, location, consolidation, and possible polling places. In most
instances, City precincts are made up of more than one County precinct;
therefore, it is impossible for City polling places to be consistent
with each and every County polling place. However, to alleviate as
many problems as possible, whenever possible, we should use those
County polling places which would serve the greatest number of
electors, with the least inconvenience possible.
Based on that criteria, Jo and I propose that the attached list of
precinct locations and polling places be considered and approved. You
will notice that we are suggesting the number of City precincts be
decreased from 16 to 12. There is nothing in the Charter or the Code
requiring a specific number of city precincts, and as Jo and I reviewed
the data, it became apparent that three per Council District would be
adequate. This would be cost effective, requiring fewer election
judges, fewer voting machines, etc. We would like your opinion and
suggestions in this regard. This is an Election Commission decision,
and after it is made, we advise Council. A good time to do that would
be at our meeting with Council on April 5, 1993.
Another topic we hope to present to Council on April 5 concerns
consolidated elections. At our Friday evening meeting, Jo and I hope
to have more information available for your review. Arapahoe County is
working with several municipal clerks in Arapahoe County with the goal
being a consolidated election on November 2, 1993. I'll keep you
posted on any progress made .
